Facilities
The club is located on one of the country's best stretches of river for rowing. We can row 4 km westwards in very scenic surrounds towards Wylam (at high tide) or crews can set off east towards the centre of the City and beyond - with Tynemouth as the ultimate and occasional goal, 25 km away. Scotswood at about 5 km is our more usual target.

The ergo room in our new clubhouse
The club has its premises on the north side of the Tyne at Newburn in the west of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our 'old' clubhouse dating from the 50s and 60s has been demolished and we have a brand new £1m clubhouse in its place.
The new building upstairs has a large ergo room with space for light training, a large multi purpose space at the front, with bar and kitchen, a committee room and toilets. Downstairs there is boat and launch storage plus changing rooms and a heavy weights room.
What we used to call the 'new' boathouse dating from the late 1990s remains - it is is for boat storage only. Outdoors we have two broad sets of steps suitable for eights and a narrower set in the middle usually used for launches. We can boat straight in to the water from the steps at all but the very lowest tides (when there are a few rocks and/or mud to contend with).
The club has an extensive fleet of its own boats from single sculls to eights and we rack quite a number of private boats, mainly singles. The boats range from international standard shells suitable for top level racing to training and recreational boats for beginners. We house about 90 boats in all at the moment, plus two trailers.
