The last weekend in May was a busy one for our rowers, first with two junior crews taking on the National Schools Championships at Dorney Lake, the Olympics venue next to the Thames. A girls and boys J13 4x+ and their army of supporters made the trip.
After a tough time trial the girls crew progressed to the D final and the boys the B final. The crews finished 20th and 9th overall, a massive effort from these young competitors and their coaches. The crews are pictured below.
The rest of the junior squad travelled to the less far flung destination of Cambois RC to race at Wansbeck Regatta. Some creative steering and competitive racing took place and all involved had a good day out.
On Sunday the Men's Master's squad traveled to Nottingham to take on the notoriously wavy Holme Pierre Point. With a win in the Championship MasD 4- and a near miss in the eight (and near sinking) a successful weekend for Team Tyne ARC. Anyone got a photo?
The Seniors stayed on the Tyne for a private fixture with Newcastle University Boat Club, prep for their busy regatta season kicking off this weekend, some ccrews at Metropolitan Regatta again at Dorney and some at Hexham Regatta. Thanks to NUBC for giving us some very competitive crews to race - see pics.
