Background to the competition
This event was originally run by Ponteland High School Rowing Club, but has now been taken under the wing of Tyne ARC. It happens each year in mid to late March, with the exact date depending on tides. And because of tides we tend to be on the same day as a big race on the Thames, usually HoRR as on 18 March 23 coming. It tends to be a regional affair, though in 2022 we had St Peter's School BC up from York. It can act as a reserve event for JIRR trial run-offs for this region

We were were lucky to have a beautiful day in terms of weather and water conditions. This allowed us (with the help of the clubs and rowers of course) to run the event very nearly to time (if not ahead of time) in each division despite a tight timetable. Thanks to them all. Results are downloadable below.

The Victor Ludorum winner was confirmed as Queen Elizabeth High School BC. They will hold the rose bowl trophy for a year and received a pennant. Their junior captains are pictured above. The winner of the Best Club on Average pennant was Durham ARC, who had only three crews rowing but had one win and two good thirds. The top three in each is given below.
VL points were awarded as follows:
4+ crew event - 3 for a win, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd
3 crew event - 2 for a win, 1 for 2nd
2 crew event - 1 for a win
Adjustments were made for composites as necessary
