Our small but very enjoyable regatta took place in perfect conditions. It may even have been as warm as at Rutherford Head last November. Actually, just checked, it was only 13 degC then. We had two divisions of regular side by side racng, with the best atttended event the Op J15 1x, winner Harry Shaw from Cambois RC. We then had informal racing in scratch eights and stable quas - very fiecely fought - in our Captain's Regatta!

Divs 1 & 2 - conventional regatta format
Divisions 1 and 2 were in conventional regatta format, but with a number of mixed events. Start times of divisions were 10:00 for Div 1 and 12:45 for Div 2.
We raced in two lanes only (no three lane races this year) over about 700 metres, rowing upstream and finishing at Tyne ARC steps. All crews boated from TARC except for those entered by TURC, who used their own steps.
Div 3 - Captain's Regatta
Division 3 (labelled Tyne ARC Captain's Regatta on the poster) ran from about 15:30 and consisted of knock-out races for eights and stable quads, with crews drawn on the day from TARC members plus interested competitors who had raced in Divs 1 and 2. These races were not on BROE and ran under Tyne ARC's own insurace, etc. So no BROE points!
Entries and draw
Entries to the main regatta were by BROE only and opened on 2 July 25 at 18:00 and closed on 26 July 25 at 20:00.

Tides
Tides were modest, so not a strong flow (and not much topwater at all). There was a high tide of 4.19 metres at about 10:30 and low tide of 1.90 metres at about 16:40. Go here for the full August 2025 tide table for North Shields (make sure you add an hour for BST and 20 minutes for Newburn).
