A closely fought eights race at the 2016 event
This is an annual internal event usually for club members only in August of each year. However, for a change in 2024, with Tyne Regatta now in August, we ran the Captain's Regatta as Division 3 of that Regatta on 17 August. See the Tyne Regatta page for more info
In the past it was largely for fun though with elements of competiton all the way through. Actually, the races were all very competitive, but still fun. Three cups were presented for singles racing with scratch eight crews rowing for glory only. Cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions, it ran in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
In 2025, as in 2024, we tagged on the end of Tyne Regatta as an off-BROE local competition. Lots of eights racing and one race for stable quads. A good time was had by all. Pics to follow.
